Dear Parents and Carers,
As we reach the end of another busy half-term, I would like to wish all of our families a wonderful and restful break.
Careers Week
Thank you so much to all of the parents and carers who came into school to speak to the children about their careers. The pupils really enjoyed hearing about the different jobs, experiences and opportunities available to them, and your support helped make the learning meaningful and inspiring. We could tell how engaged the children were from the sheer range of questions being asked. Throughout the day, our Year 5s and Year 6s created jobs fair stands which the younger year groups visited at the end of the day. Our younger learners talked about having a ‘One Year Plan’ to try a range of different things and practised talking about themselves positively.

Shakespeare Week
We have also thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Shakespeare Week. It has been fantastic to see the children engaging with stories, performances and language with such enthusiasm and creativity. This year, the focus has been on Much Ado About Nothing, which is one of Shakespeare’s comedies. Each key stage 2 class has spent afternoons exploring the play using the Royal Shakespeare Companies ‘playful rehearsal room’ techniques which build teamwork skills and immerse the children in the fun of the play before they reach the text itself. The impact of this project taking place year on year can now be clearly seen in the Year 5 and 6 children: their confidence and enthusiasm when performing was a joy to watch! Thank you to my fantastic staff for organising both events.Â
EYFS Open EveningÂ
We were also delighted to welcome our new EYFS parents and carers on Monday evening for our Open Evening for new September starters. It was a lovely opportunity to meet families as they begin their journey with our wonderful school community.Â
AttendanceÂ
Thank you too for your continued support with attendance. We are really pleased to see how much attendance has improved over recent months. Good attendance has such an important impact on children’s learning, confidence and wellbeing, so please continue to support us with this after half-term. Please be aware that after half-term, attendance slips will be automated and will be sent by email.Â
SafeguardingÂ
As part of our ongoing commitment to keeping children safe, we would also like to remind families of our current contextual safeguarding priorities. In particular, we are continuing to monitor concerns relating to antisocial behaviour on the Green. Please continue to speak with your children about staying safe, making positive choices and reporting any worries to a trusted adult.
